ARTIST STATEMENT
My work entitled 'Public Image', with which I introduce myself on MyMuseum, is a story of a virtual journey that I made with the help of Google Earth. I wanted to create a fictional portrait from cities where I've never been before and make a distinct book format from the classical travel guides. I found a plenty of interesting stories around the world using street view mode while I was lurking around buildings and people. After turning the images black and white then negative the pictures became homogeneous and got a new meaning. Besides the documentary perspective I realised that the medium itself has a concrete vision of the present through the eyes of a sociologist. Although I took the pictures but under the control of the program what turned people anonymus using an algorithm to make everyone faceless. From this point of view this series of books demonstrate the status quo.
